Life Detoxification

 Do you need a Life Detox?  So what does Detoxify actually mean? To remove the poison or a harmful addiction or dependence on something or someone.  We all have stressors and anxieties we need to eliminate in order to have that Peaceful State of Mind we so desire.

The first thing you must do is to identify the source of your anxiety or stress.  We all have harmful things in our lives that interfere with our peace of mind. You must recognize what these things are and then work on capturing them.  You need to capture and rid yourself of those destructive roadblocks.   Stress is a silent killer and is responsible for most illness.   Eating a poor diet can cause bad health over time.  The same goes for dwelling on harmful activities and dealing with bad personal relationships.  It is very important that you clearly identify the source of your problems.

The next step is to remove the source of your anxiety.  Sometimes things need to change.  Remember the definition of insanity – “Doing the same things over and over and expecting different results”.  If you have identified the source of your anxiety, you need to work on removing it. The more you dwell on your anxieties the stronger they become in the brain.  Overeating, smoking, drinking, lust, greed, jealousy, anger, hate, and being unable to forgive others or yourself. You need to place a wall between yourself and the source of your anxiety and simply learn to remove it.

Once you have identified and removed what is causing your stress you need to replace it with something good.  Maybe you have had a successful diet and then later gained more weight than you lost?  Or maybe you have kicked an unhealthy habit only to have gone back to something worse?  Or left an unhealthy relationship only to return and find it even worse than before.  It is SO important that you replace the things in life that cause your stress with something beneficial.

Music and Your State of Mind

In my private practice I often state that “All we really want in life is to have a happy state of mind”.  Yet we are often our own worse enemies.  We think constantly about our problems and fill our minds with negative self talk which generates stress and anxiety.  So how can music help?????

I have known for years the benefits of Classical Baroque Music.  I listen to it while reading, studying or to calm myself before making a speech or a medical procedure.  It makes you relax and learning easier.

The next time you are in a bad mood or have stinkin’ thinkin’ give this a try…. Simply play your favorite upbeat song and do a silly dance.   You will notice a quick change in your mood.  Your unconscious mind loves you doing this and quickly makes you believe you are indeed happy.
